Formerly known as Underwood Systems, Canadian Use of Force Systems Inc. is a professional Use of Force and Defensive Tactics organization teaching a full range of controlled response options for Self-Protection and Use of Force considerations in public and professional environments. The modern evolution of the work of Canadian Use of Force pioneer Bill Underwood and his DEFENDO and COMBATO systems, Canadian Use of Force Systems teaches what is truly Canada's only "martial art."
So what do we teach?
Although our genesis came from the original work of Bill Underwood’s COMBATO and DEFENDO systems we do not teach these systems in their classic, historical forms as current tactical options for professionals operating in Lifesaving (Fire an EMS), Law Enforcement (Road Officer, Motorcycle Patrol, K-9, Tactical), Security, Corrections, Close Protection or Military designations. Ground breaking and highly innovative at the time of their inception, these systems (like any other of decades past) have become outdated and must be modified and evolved to meet the task specific requirements of the modern operator.
Canadian Use of Force Systems teaches high-speed Self-Protection, Control and High-Force Field Combat tactics for both professional and civilian applications governed by the following operational principles:
Short-Duration/High Retention, Principle Based Learning and Training Format
Justified Use of Force concepts and the separation and identification of Self-Protection, Control Tactics and Aggressive Force options
Condusive to bio-mechanical and nervous system response platforms of both the operator and the subject
Condusive to High-Stress Engagement and the effects of Interpersonal Human Aggression
Linear Entrance, Execution and Exit based Techniques and Tactics
Application and Separation of Gross and Fine Motor Skill options
Tactics and Techniques based on Restricted Movement (confined space, weapon and equipment load)
Single-Hand Use of Force Options
Integrated, Non-telegraphic Blocking/Striking Tactics and Single-Shape Tactical Movement
Core Control Theory

The Evolution of Bill Underwood's Special Operations Open-Hand System taught to British Security Coordination, Special Operations Executive and Office of Strategic Services operators has now been made available to students within a Private Training format. Operatives in these environments had to learn how to explosively take control of a subject using non-telegraphic entries and controls on a subject from awkward positions. Available ONLY in Private or Small Group Training Formats. To learn more about this concept read the article entitled "The Necessity of Non-Telegraphic Entry and Control Tactics for Special Operators"
The Female Law Enforcement
Connection
A Training Group Dedicated to Training and Empowering Female Law Enforcement Officers...
Are you a Female Police or Security
Officer and having a difficult time with
traditional Defensive Tactics?
Female Friendly Defensive Tactics applications:
It is very common for Female Officers to experience frustration when attempting to train Defensive Tactics techniques in which their size and strength can put them at a significant disadvantage, especially when it comes to issues of self-protection. Canadian Use of Force System has a specialized program for Female Officers which assists in reinforcing OPC basics and adding entirely legally justifiable variations to assist the officer in compensating for their physical disadvantages.
3 Training Options for Female Officers:

Preparing to become a Police Officer?
Specialized Self-Protection and Dynamic Control Certification Programs:
If you are a Security professional, Law Enforcement student or have a non-related background and are attempting to be hired by a service, we have short-duration/ high-retention training and certification programs just for you. There can be a great deal of competition for your spot with any service so give yourself the added advantage of having developed an advanced Defensive Tactics skill set and certification for your professional profile. Canadian Use of Force Systems has worked with many successful Law Enforcement career candidates who have very clearly indicated that their training experience with us was a solid asset in their pursuit of full-time Law Enforcement employment. CONTACT US for details on how you can enroll in these programs.
Are you a Student or Security Professional who would like to upgrade your skill set and resume with Use of Force Training and Certification?
Canadian Use of Force Systems Self-Protection and Dynamic Control Certification Programs: Canadian Use of Force Systems is proud to present certificate programs for students and practitioners of the Security industry in Professional Self-Protection Training and Dynamic Control Tactics. Too often security related organizations put equipment and tools in the hands of their staff yet do not provide effective Assessment - Disengagement training. Under stress security staff need to command appropriate Self-Protection skills before they attempt to stabilize and control a subject. A lack of such skill only increases the likelihood of injury to all parties and legal liability. In a Short-Duration/ High-Retention Training Format learn principle based Defensive and Control Tactics which do not require a martial arts background. Contact us for more details.
