COMBATO was the name given to Bill Underwood's first system of Unarmed Combat. As it was a system designed to "combat" the wartime
Jiu-Jitsu and Judo of the Second World War era the name was fitting. Underwood's first two published works... "Combato
For Soldier and Civilian" (1943) and "Combato for Women" (1944) were not accurate representations of what he was teaching in military
circles. These two books were designed to augment civilian self-protection applications and were a source of income
for Bill as he was travelling (and often volunteering his time as part of his personal "war effort") in Canada and the United States.
Canadian Use of Force Systems is very proud to have assembled a field combat system which represents the outcome of the following: Research with military veterans associated with Underwood in Canada and the United States, original Canadian Forces Unarmed Combat material (which was designed for them by Bill Underwood) and with the continued input of high-speed Unarmed Combat /Martial Arts experts. As per Canadian Use of Force Systems guiding mission statement, it desires to provide the high-speed evolution and modern application Canada's founding Unarmed Combat System.
High-Force Field Combat training is currently being offered in a seminar training format and has been introduced in regular Canadian Use of Force classes.
